I had forgotten how long it takes to get a house put together. I feel like we have an endless list of to-do’s as far as the house goes. I keep vowing to myself that as soon as the busy season is over, I’ll get my rear in gear. I’m in a bit of a design rut with it right now but I thought I’d show how far I am anyway. Maybe you’ll have some great suggestions. I need to re-arrange the wall space, find new lamps, side tables, rearrange, paint?… But here is my ever changing (and completely unfinished) living room…
So first of all, thanks to pinterest, we went white.
After a lot of research, a few handfuls of furniture stores, countless couches we sat on, I decided to go with my heart. Sometimes you just need to get what you really want, ya know? I wanted white slipcovers and so far, I’m glad I did it. This post from the inspired room helped me be realistic about my choice, so if you’re thinking white for your house, I recommend reading it.
Pretty much everything is in a constant state of rearranging. I still can’t decide what to do with our chairs. I originally wanted white slip chairs as well, but when push came to shove, I couldn’t get rid of our rockers.
The rocker on the left I was rocked in as a baby, and the rocker to the right Brady was rocked in as a baby. I love having meaningful items in my home
Brady’s rocker is quite worn and I can’t decide if I should reupholster, leave, or just move new chairs in all together. It’s in a constant state of change right now and I’m thinking it will be like that for a while. I do love this room though. It will be a fun project to finish.
In January.
Hopefully.
Do you have a room in your house that keeps you up at night? I hope I’m not the only one…

I LOVE the chairs. IMO I think you should leave as is:) You are brave with white! I love white but with my boys ugh would never survive!!:) I am terrible at decorating. One day when I have the money I am paying for a designer. Right now my babies and lack of funds keeps it how shall we put it thrifty:) LOL Love your style though!

Alexis,
I wanted a lighter couch and I figured white was better than a light grey or something similar because I can bleach it out. Plus, the cushions are easy to wash. We’ll see how I feel in a few months..

ADORABLE!!! I’m still trying to get my place semi squared away…it won’t be nearly as cute as your place tho!!! I wanted mostly white too but…like Alexis said ‘not w/boys!’…!! TOTALLY CUTE!!!
Cass Miller
Thanks, Ellen! It takes a while to get everything the way you want it, huh. I try to keep it as kid friendly as possible. Let’s just say, the bleach pen may just be my new bff.
tiffani
oooh all of this is so fantastic.
Cass Miller
Thank you, Tiffani!

Don’t remove the chairs!!! Love them. I would just redo the cover on the green!! No worries our living room, dining/family room, bedroom and kitchen have me up all night. Thankfully the boys’ rooms are good. Lol
Also I LOVE THE WHITE! I’m so scared of white as much as I love it. So I seriously am proud of your bravery lol
Cass Miller
Haha, thanks Karli! White was a commitment for sure. I’ll keep you updated on how it goes.

Awww – soo lovely!!
Next on the list – mine!!!
My favorite is the chairs that mean so much and work in their own beautiful way. Lets get some time to work on a reupholster project so you can brave that chair – meanwhile, on the hunt for more of that glorious green velvet material….

Deal, Juanita!

Where did you get your curtains & pillows?! Ive been searching for curtains for like a year! Such a darling room:)
Cass Miller
Kristi, I found these curtains on Etsy. I’ll have to dig for the link and share it. My pillows were made by my mom.
Debi
where did you find the curtain rod?! I love the look of this room one of my friends pinned it!
Cass Miller
Hi Debi,
Thank you! I got the curtain rod at Ikea. It’s the only place I’ve found long enough for our big windows. If there’s not an ikea by you, try looking on amazon. They sell a lot of Ikea stuff on there. Hope that helps!

Love this room and I just got a rug like that for my basement.
We just moved into our new house on Monday so I am completely OVERWHELMED with decorating and setting everything up. It’s a challenge but at least I’ll get a few dozen IKEA trips out of the process.
At least I can stick Christmas trees up now to take up space while we decide on furniture. hehehe

Yay for the new house, Stephanie! Let me just tell you, it takes a while so go room by room and don’t get overwhelmed with a time schedule. Also, pinterest is your new bestie.
Genius idea for the Christmas decor buying you some time!
