A very big week, indeed!

:: Fathers day ::

My favorite part of my life is probably watching Brady with our little girls. We are so lucky to have him.

(You can see that Harlo liked Daddy’s new shirt so much, she thought Stella should try it on)


:: Big Girl Seat ::

We have officially gotten so sick of Stella’s screaming habit, we switched her to a big girl seat a little early in hopes it would help. I just used our second carseat because she’s getting her ‘real’ big girl seat for her birthday. I pulled it in the other day to adjust all the straps to her and she climbed in and wanted the buckle and sat it in for probably a good 20 minutes. She thought she was so big. Harlo kept telling me “mommy, take a picture!” I got my camera and told her to get in and she grabbed her princess tiara and jumped right in. 🙂

This was directly after nap time, don’t mind my scraggly girls.

:: First Potty “Spill” ::

Who: Harlo Elle Miller
When: Wednesday, June 22nd. Right after nap time.
What: A real live “spill” on the big girl potty.

How it went down (warning: potty talk):
Harlo woke up from her nap with a dirty diaper and said she needed to sit on the potty. She never wants to sit on the potty once we get to it, so I assumed it would be another one of those. I humored her anyway and went in and she sat right down on the potty (for the first time, ever!) Then she was just talking, talking, talking to me and kept telling me she “wan’t done yet” then all the sudden, she goes, “Oh darn it!” and stood up and she had peed in the potty! I couldn’t even believe it. What a milestone!
She immediately got to Facetime Daddy and tell him all about it. Next she wanted to call Auntie, then Nana, then go wake Stella up to tell her, too. Then she wanted big girl panties and got to pick a pair to wear. (she always wants to wear the panties, never wants to use the potty)

I wasn’t really prepared for the occasion but wanted to make it special so told her she could pick a special treat and she picked a popsicle (which she calls a cereal.. she can’t ever keep those names straight) She was so happy and so proud of herself!


After dinner, Nana came by to bring Harlo a special prize for being such a big girl. She got a little princess barbie doll of Bell from Beauty and the Beast. The next day I told her “Pretty Princess'” name was Bell and Harlo said “oh.. Bell?” About 15 minutes later she asked me where “Jingle Belled” was.. took me a few minutes to figure out that she was talking about ‘Bell’. From then on, “Jingle Belled” she is. And she goes everywhere with us.

Oh, about the potty.. 15 minutes after the pee on the potty episode, she had an accident where she “spilled on the carpet” (her words) and demanded a diaper back on. She was pretty upset and hasn’t wanted to sit on the potty since.. BUT she keeps telling people how big she is for peeing on the potty. Step in the right direction, but I’m still not pushin’. 🙂 So proud!

With all that, plus Stella’s surgery this week.. it’s been a crazy one! Hoping to relax at Groovefest this weekend 🙂
